Just like last season, there will be plenty more comings and goings at Newcastle United in 2024.

Former stars like Chris Wood and Jonjo Shelvey were signed by the Magpies at the beginning of the season, but players like Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon have taken their position.

In order for Eddie Howe and company to be back in Europe’s top competition the following season, we will need a stronger squad, and with new players possibly joining, some of the current group may have to depart. This Newcastle United squad will continue to change in 2024 as the Toon owners look to build on an amazing 2022–2023 campaign that saw the club qualify for the Champions League.

In light of that, the following three players could be shipped by Newcastle in 2024.

Javi Manquillo’s contract at St James’ Park is set to expire at the end of the current campaign, and an extension is highly unlikely. Currently ranked as Tyneside’s fourth choice right-back behind Emil Krafth, Kieran Trippier, and Tino Livramento, Manquillo appears headed for departure from the club in 2024 regardless of whether Newcastle decides to sell him or let him go for nothing.

Ideally, Newcastle will sell him in January to at least recoup some of their investment in the player, who originally cost £4.5 million in 2017—during Rafa Benitez’s tenure as manager.
