‘Hurrican caoch’ fumes after Sixth consecutive wins

After winning for six consecutive times but fall to……

On Thursday, Sidney Crosby gave the Pittsburgh Penguins a 2-1 victory over the visiting Carolina Hurricanes by scoring in regular and then scoring the game’s lone goal in the shootout. After dribbling the puck into the slot and swinging to the left, Crosby—Pittsburgh’s second shooter in the game that broke the tie—clanked a shot off the right post.

In the shootout, Stefen Noesen, Andrei Svechnikov, and Teuvo Teravainen of Carolina were stopped by Penguins goalie Alex Nedeljkovic. It was the Penguins’ second straight victory and their fourth in the previous five meetings. Nedeljkovic, the backup goalkeeper for Pittsburgh, is making his third consecutive appearance and second consecutive start while No. 1 Jarry, who is in good health, made 23 saves in overtime and regulation. The Hurricanes have dropped three of their last four games (1-0-3), with Teravainen scoring their lone goal. They had defeated Pittsburgh five times in a row, including once already this season.

Pyotr Kochetkov, the goalie for Carolina, who is replacing Frederik Andersen, went 3-0-1 in his prior four appearances, made 24 saves throughout regulation and overtime.

Around 8:51 in the first period, Crosby gave the Penguins the lead with his team-high 19th goal. After finishing a hit in the right corner, he raced ahead of Hurricanes defenseman Brady Skjei toward the net.

Rickard Rakell shoveled a hard backhander toward the net from the top of the slot. Crosby redirected the puck over Kochetkov’s glove in mid-step.

Jack Drury, playing in the high slot, sent the puck to Teravainen as the Hurricanes gained momentum with a few consecutive great shifts and the Penguins were forced to play long shifts due to an icing call.

Teravainen fired the puck toward the net from the lower left circle. It went past the goalie’s left skate, off Pittsburgh defenseman Kris Letang, and off Nedeljkovic’s pads to tie the score at one.
