BBC pundit names Arsenal star who produced the moment of the season in fantastic 2 nil win over Brighton

Clinton Morrison thinks Martin Odegaard made one of his passes of the season on Sunday against Brighton in setting up a great chance for Arsenal.

Martin Odegaard showed his quality in the first half at the Emirates. The Norwegian has not been at his best in the opening months of this campaign. But his ability is undeniable.

And he provided a moment of magic in what probably should have been the opening goal of the game against the Seagulls.

Martin Odegaard during Arsenal’s win over Brighton:

Odegaard found Bukaya Sako on the right wing with a beautiful left-footed pass. The pass was perfectly timed and Saka returned the ball to Gabriel Martinelli.

Unfortunately, Martinelli could not hold his attempt and it went over the crossbar. But Clinton Morrison, speaking to BBC Radio Five Live (broadcast 17.12.; 14:33), praised the astuteness of the Arsenal captain who created the chance.

“It’s an amazing pass, one of the passes of the season! He made all sorts of turns on it, Saka made a great pass and Martinelli really should have scored for 1-0,” he said.

“But Odegaard’s pass was outstanding.”

The Gunners’ captain found his best form again:

Odegaard has shown some more promising signs recently. But he is definitely not as influential as he was last season. But he seems to have found a better form.

Odegaard recently made a great save to score the winning goal away at Luton. And the quality of that pass today meant that if the Brazilian had managed to find the back of the net, most would be talking about his role rather than Martinelli’s.

Ominously for Arsenal’s rivals, the Gunners’ attack hasn’t been anywhere near as impressive this season. Nevertheless, even this term they are on full alert in the race for the Premier League title.
